Repeated use of the quadriceps, especially in activities like running, cycling, or jumping, can lead to overuse injuries. This often results in muscle strains, where the muscle fibers are overstretched or torn. Or, a sudden, intense movement, such as sprinting or kicking, can cause a strain. This might lead to sharp pain, swelling, and difficulty moving the leg.
The quad pain described in both of these examples can be treated and prevented once the underlying cause is addressed properly. Most rehab fails to address the reason why the quads were overstretched or torn in the first place. Body mechanics is at play, and a personalized program is your best shot at getting lasting relief and preventing a repeat occurrence.
One of the most common causes of neck pain is repetitive stress of the neck muscles, tendons, and ligaments within these structures. Individuals who spend most of their day sitting at work, or doing sedentary activities, have a high-risk factor for developing this condition. The risk for developing neck pain is highest for those who sit in poor posture, with the head in a flexed forward position.
Several other causes of neck pain are also posture related, such as herniated discs, whiplash injuries, and Osteoarthritis (developing from the wear and tear of cartilage and bones). Poor posture puts your cervical spine, disks, and muscles in the neck at risk of injury and damage.
Remedies for quad pain are often limited and provide only short-term relief. Fortunately, there is another proven method that focuses on the root cause of pain, resulting in lasting relief for both acute and chronic quad pain.
Ice, heat, and pain relief creams are topical remedies that might feel good when applied but usually wear off in a very short amount of time.
Steroid shots and surgeries are isolated to the location of the pain are unsuccessful when the root cause is elsewhere in the body.
General stretching and massage only provide short-term relief since their focus is on the site of the pain and not the root cause.
Over-the-counter and prescription meds only mask the pain temporarily, which often results in symptoms getting worse over time.

Treatments that are limited to the quad alone often fail because the pain area is not usually the problem area. Remedies applied directly to the pain area are ineffective when the cause of quad pain is blamed on a problem with the area itself, such as muscle tightness, tendonitis, or muscle spasms. All of these causes actually have a single, deeper, root cause.
Chronic tightness in the hamstrings or hip flexors makes the quads prone to injury. An imbalance in strength from the right side of the body to left might leave one side weaker and the other side overused. Both problems can lead to a sprain or tear in the quads. Another posture imbalance that can lead to quad pain is a swayback posture. The quads are always in a lengthened position, making them prone to being stretched beyond their ability at which point they will tear.
In order to effectively address your quad pain, you must look at your overall posture, head to toe, and determine what joints are compromised and show up with an imbalance. Correcting these areas with a personalized therapy program can also prevent a future injury.
For treatment and prevention of quad or upper leg pain to be lasting and effective, it must correct whole-body posture and straighten the joints from head to toe. Posture Therapy is the only method to date that provides personalized whole-body posture correction for lasting pain relief.
