With over 23 years in the world of dance, I have thrived as both a professional dancer and a dedicated dance instructor. During this period of intense teaching and performing, however, I suffered quite a few injuries. Simple actions like picking up groceries became a challenge, and dancing without pain seemed out of reach. Almost every class or performance resulted in an “old” injury in my back or SI joint that was “out of place,” leading to frequent visits to physiotherapists and chiropractors, sometimes even multiple times a week. The treatments seemed to only address the symptoms and didn’t solve the underlying problems.
In March 2021, the Egoscue method emerged as a game-changer. As a dancer, I thought I knew what good posture was. Well, when I saw my posture photos, various pieces of the puzzle fell into place.
The impact the posture therapy had on me was so profound that I decided to undergo training to become a postural alignment specialist. I am certified through The Egoscue Method® and am now a licensed PTX Therapist.
My journey has familiarized me intimately with the specter of pain that accompanies every movement. The feelings of frustration, apprehension, and uncertainty about the path ahead are not unfamiliar to me.
My mission now is to help others with their chronic pain issues, create awareness about posture and its relationship with long-term pain problems.
I offer virtual and in-person postural therapy sessions and teach a virtual posture class once a week.
